Dorothy Rusk, 87, of Webster City, died Saturday, September 3, 2011 at Crestview Senior Living. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Foster Chapel, with Rev. Mike Willer officiating. Burial will be in the Cass Township Cemetery, north of Webster City. Visitation will be at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 Wednesday and prior to the service on Thursday.
Dorothy Irene Woodall, daughter of Robert and Beatrice Walk Woodall, was born September 26, 1923 at Alsey, Illinois. She received her education in Alsey Public Schools, graduating from Milton (Iowa) High School in 1941. With her mother and brothers, she moved to Chicago, IL. She worked for Stewart Warner Corporation during the years her five brothers served in the military. On August 24, 1946, she married Duane Merlyn Rusk at Chicago. They started farming north of Webster City. In 1985, they retired and moved into Webster City. In 1987, they moved to Mesa, AZ. Mr. Rusk died May 23, 1993. Dorothy had been employed at Montgomery Ward Company, Webster City Products and Queens Trailer Ranch. She moved back to Webster City in October of 2004 where she resided at Crestview Apartments and was active in Bible study, exercise class and loved to help out during Bingo. In October of 2007, she moved to Crestview Senior Living.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Richard Kranz of Watertown, SD; son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Amanda Rusk of Reno, NV; grandchildren, Matthew Kranz; Jennifer and Rob Markel; Nicole, Brandon and Jeanette Rusk; sisters-in-law, Rose Quigley, Veda Woodall and Dorothy Woodall; several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Robert, Raymond, Richard, Rodger, Samuel and Dick (Woody) Woodall, and a sister in infancy.
Dorothy was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mesa being very active in the church serving as a Deaconess, American Baptist Woman's president, chaired the social committee and later served as greeter and usher. She volunteered at the Sunland Village Library in Mesa and at the Mesa General Hospital. She loved writing letters and watching baseball. In Webster City, she had been attending the Faith United Methodist Church.
