February 17, 1916 - August 13, 2011

Retired Wisconsin Division Engineer Robert L. Fisher, age 95, passed away this morning. Visitation will be from 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at the Brust Funeral Home, 415 N. Gary Ave., Carol Stream, IL. The Funeral Service will be at 11:00 am on Thursday, August 18, 2011, also at the Funeral Home. Burial will be at Mount Emblem Cemetery in Elmhurst, IL.

Bob grew up in Eagle Grove, Iowa where his father was a C&NW engineer on the Northern Iowa Division and Bob’s first railroad job was on the Eagle Grove Section Gang. Later, on June 9, 1941, Bob hired out as a fireman on the Wisconsin Division. During World War II, he was assigned to the Railroad Battalion and served in Alaska among other places. He returned to the Wisconsin Division after the war, was set up to engineer on February 14, 1946 and retired off an Elk Grove job on February 27, 1981 with 43 years of C&NW Service.

Visitation for Robert Louis Fisher, 95, will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17, at Brust Funeral Home, 415 N. Gary Ave., Carol Stream. Interment will be in Mount Emblem Cemetery, Elmhurst. Mr. Fisher passed away Saturday, Aug. 13, 2011. He was the beloved husband of the late Pearl; dearest father of Gwendolyn (Fred) Randazzo, Cheryl Rivera, Myrna (Doug) Giroux, Ellyn (Dean) Castino and Robert (Rosemary); grandfather of 15; great-grandfather of 25; fond brother of Patricia (Russell) Mendenhall the late Jeanette Nibe and Dorothy Brown; and uncle of many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the DuPage Convalescent Center, Wheaton.
