February 18, 1890 --- July 8, 1956

Funeral services for Sam Folkedahl were held Wednesday afternoon at the Methodist church, Rev. J. Howard Machlan officiating. Burial was in Glenwood cemetery. Sam Folkedahl, son of Peter and Gure Vaag Folkedahl, was born at Eagle Grove Feb. 18, 1890, and died at the Lutheran hospital in Ft, Dodge July 8 at the age of 60 years, 4 months and 20 days. Sam spent his entire life in this community. He was confirmed in the Evangelical Lutheran church in Eagle Grove at the age of 14. He later changed his membership to the Methodist church in Goldfield where he has worshiped and worked faithfully until the time of his death. He was a trustee in the Methodist church. He served 14 months in World War I, part of that time overseas. On Jan. 28, 1920, he was united in marriage to Ethel Crowl and to this union four children were born. Bernard, who was lost at sea in 1942, Carol, who died in 1928, and Betty and Arlene (Mrs. Bruce Wiuff) both living in Des Moines. He is survived by his wife, Ethel; two daughters, Betty and Arlene; a granddaughter, Denice; one sister, Laura (Mrs. Tom Lister) of Eagle Grove; two brothers, Chris of Clarion and Joseph of Los Angeles, Calif., and a large group of other relatives and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Anna and Hilda, four brothers, Ole, Herman, Willie and Amos, and the son Bernard and daughter, Carol.
