Iona Leelia Halterman, 87, of Rogers, Ark., formerly of Grinnell, died Monday, May 19, [1993] at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville, Ark. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Robert C. Smith, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Knoxville, officiating. Organist will be James Severe. Fraternal rites will be conducted by members of the Rebekah Lodge of Grinnell. Burial will be in Hazelwood Cemetery.

The daughter of Frank C. and Mary Casperson Pohlman, she was born Jan. 27, 1906, in Eagle Grove. She graduated from Eagle Grove High School and later attended Tobin Business College. Following her education, she lived in Ida Grove, Spencer, Algona and Montezuma. In Montezuma she was employed by the County Engineer's Office and later operated the County Assessor's Office in Grinnell. She was married to Paul Donald Halterman June 21, 1931, in Grinnell. They owned and operated Paul's Hatchery in Grinnell for a number of years. She later was employed as bookkeeper for Mitchell Buick Garage. Following her husband's death, she continued to live in Grinnell until moving to Rogers in 1972.

She was a member of the Grinnell First Baptist Church, Grinnell Rebekah Lodge, Beulah Chapter No. 47 of the Order of Eastern Star, the Newton White Shrine and, in Rogers, the American Legion Auxiliary, Oak Hill Grange and Art Guild.

Surviving are two sisters, Margaret Sheetz and June Birnbaum, both of Rogers. She was preceded in death by her husband; one sister, Marie Moore; three brothers, Frank C. Pohlman, Clifford H. Pohlman and Howard L. Pohlman; and her parents.
