Funeral Services for Ernest E. McDonough Were Held Saturday Afternoon at the Christian Church – Died Very Suddenly
Funeral services for Ernest E. McDonough, a resident of this city, who passed away very suddenly on March 15th, at Blackwell, Oklahoma, where held Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock from the Christian church, Rev. H. L. Olmstead officiating.
Ernest McDonough was born at Iowa Falls, Iowa, June 24, 1872, where he lived until he was twelve years of age when he moved with his parents to Livermore, Iowa. On November 26, 1901, he was united in marriage with Miss Mary Cragg, at Eagle Grove, Iowa, and they continued to make their home at that place until 1922 when they moved to this city to reside. Three children were born to this happy couple. They are Merle, John and Marie, all of whom survive their father. Mr. McDonough’s passing away was very sudden and wholly unexpected. He had been working in Blackwell during the past winter and had been enjoying the very best of health. His death came as a great shock to his many friends here. Since coming to Estherville he has made many friends by his genial and agreeable ways. He was a pleasant man to do business with and was respected and admired by everyone who knew him. His home life was always happy and pleasant and his place as the head of this family can never be filled. Besides his wife and children he is survived by his mother, Mrs. J.A. McDonough, of Eagle Grove, two sisters, Mrs. Charles Banks, of Long Beach, California, and Miss Lulu McDonough, of Eagle Grove. Deceased was a regular attendant at the Christian church in this city and his absence from that place will be keenly felt by his co-workers. The sympathy of the entire community is extended the bereaved family in their hours of sorrow and grief.
