Jerl Dee Watkins, 66, of Warrenton, Oregon died Sunday, Nov. 27, 2011, in Warrenton. He was born Sept. 4, 1945, in Clarion, Iowa, to Doyle and Violet (Collicott) Watkins. His mother survives, residing in Boulder, Colo. Mr. Watkins was raised in Urbana, Mo., and Boulder. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era, and served in Germany. On June 22, 1996, in Boulder, he married Cynthia Watkins, who survives. Mr. Watkins was an automotive body and paint technician as well as a pipefitter. He retired in 2003, and came to the North Coast area in 2006. Family members said his hobbies and interests included reading, computers, walking his dog, Boo, rock hunting, bird watching, talking about his grandchildren and spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Greg Chrisco of Tulsa, Okla.; a son, Joe Watkins of Orofina, Idaho; two sisters, Ruth Lee of LaFayette, Colo., and Linda Richmond of Grand Junction, Colo.; two brothers, Kenneth Watkins of Lake Forrest, Calif., and Keith Watkins of Grand Junction; four grandchildren, Christian and Hannah Reiss and Luke and Logan Chrisco, all of Tulsa; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial gathering of family and friends will be held at a later time. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, in care of Ocean View Cremation & Burial Service, 1213 Franklin Ave., Astoria, OR 97103.
