Isabel Negrete passed away at her home in San Diego after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's Disease. She was born in Belmond, Iowa and after high school, she put herself through Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Des Moines, Iowa. She then obtained a B.S. in Nursing from University of Iowa. She moved to San Francisco where she became the head nurse of the ENT Department at the University of California Hospital. In 1980, she moved to San Diego and worked at Scripps Memorial and Sharp Grossmont hospitals and then became the office manager of the Ear & Balance Clinic. She was elected Treasurer of the National Society of ENT nurses. Isabel earned a Masters degree in Nursing from SDSU after that program was started. She loved music and skiing and was a patron of the arts. She is survived by sisters, Jean Schwartz of Belmond, Iowa; Connie Swanson of Des Moines, Iowa; Mary Negrete of Sandy, Utah; Nellie Fleming of Omaha, Nebraska; Ruth Matthews of Neptune Beach, Florida; Stella Bauqous of Michigan, brothers, Simon Negrete of Draper, Utah; Robert Negrete of Clear Lake, Iowa; and partner in life, James E. Bush, M.D. Funeral services are planned for Belmond, Iowa. A memorial service will be held later at Marina Park Condominiums.

BELMOND - Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Belmond. Visitation is 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Dugger Funeral Home, Belmond.
