Sally A. Messerly, 66, of Vincent, passed away on Wednesday, November 9, 2011, surrounded by her family at the Van Diest Medical Center in Webster City. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 12th, at 1:30 p.m. in the Chapel of the Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home with the Rev. L. J. Hartley officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
Survivors include her husband Dave; daughters, Michelle Koester and her husband DeLoy of Duncombe; Jill Messerly and her husband Jim Potts of Vincent; her grandson, Justin Koester; siblings, Shirley Duncan (Steve) of Visalia, CA; Sandy Swenson of Farwell, MN; Dick Dillingham (Pat) of Lincoln, NE; Roger Dillingham (Leanor) of Duncombe; Sara Padfield of San Jose, CA; Sue Summers (Jerry) of Lehigh; Randy Dillingham (Patty) of Garwin; Sharon Miller (Denny) of Vincent; sister-in-law, Carol Dillingham of Ankeny; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Delorse (Leiss) Dillingham; father and mother-in-law, Clarence and Lucille (Davis) Messerly; a brother, Bob Dillingham; and brother-in-law, Ted Swenson.
Sally Ann Dillingham was born on February 18, 1945 in Fort Dodge. She attended schools here and graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High School. Following her education she worked at Randall's Food until her retirement. Sally also showed Quarter horses for over 40 years at shows in Iowa and all over the mid-west. On May 22, 1964, she was united in marriage to David J. Messerly and the couple made their home in Vincent. Sally loved to spend time with her family and friends. She enjoyed gardening and being outdoors. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family or to the Vincent Fire and Ambulance Rescue.
