Eleanor Sortore, 85, of Pendleton, died Friday, Sept. 22, 2000, at Amber Valley Care Center in Pendleton. At her request there will be no funeral services. Mrs. Sortore, a resident of Pendleton for 41 years, was born Oct. 2, 1914, at Eagle Grove, Iowa, to Frank and Mary Margaret Johnson Copp. She was a member of Hermiston Eagles Lodge 2909. Survivors include a son, Jerrel B. Mabe of Pendleton; a daughter, Donna Ray of Umatilla; brothers, Frank Copp of Eagle Grove, Iowa, and James Copp of Clarinda, Iowa; sisters, Mary Lois Gardner of Mason City, Iowa, and Beverly Aichele of Hermiston; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Stanley Dean Olson Sr., and a daughter, Delories Joan Martin. Burns Mortuary of Pendleton is in charge of arrangements.
