April 21, 1919 --- October 19, 2011

YORKTOWN, VA - Eleanor Venyce Misner passed away peacefully Wednesday, Oct. l9, 2011, with her beloved husband of 69 years at her side. Eleanor was born April 21, 1919, to Samuel and Emma (Lewison) Rundell on a farm in Turner County South Dakota. She graduated from Sioux Falls College and taught school prior to having her own children. She was always a wonderful Bible School teacher and Scout Leader. She married her childhood sweetheart Robert E. Misner on March 21, 1943, in Albany, Ga. She lived in Belmond, Iowa, for 47 years where her husband practiced veterinary medicine and she was very active in her church and community. In 1997 she and her husband moved to Yorktown, Va., to be near their children. All who knew her will miss her warm loving spirit and the twinkle in her eye. She enjoyed playing bridge, golfing, reading, dancing, fishing and RV'ing. She loved her family and supported them in every way.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Dugie and his wife, Ruth Rundell. Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, a son, Bob (Patti) of Falls Church, Va.; daughter, Deb (Wayne) Smith of Yorktown, Va.; five grandchildren, Andrea (Bryan) Clarke, Elizabeth (Jeremy) Chasteen, Michael Smith, Blaine Misner and Emma Misner; seven great-grandchildren, Ethan, Owen, Ainsley, Carson, Bryn, Lydia and Spencer; and a niece, Mary (Wayne) Demorest; and a nephew, Sam (Judy) Rundell. A special thanks to the caring staff of Golden Living Bayside of Poquoson, and to Visiting Angels.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Oct. 24, 2011, at St. Luke's United Methodist Church, 300 Ella Taylor Road Yorktown, Va. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be sent to: York County Church Women United Food Closet c/o St. Luke's UMC 300 Ella Taylor Rd. Yorktown, VA 23692. Amory Funeral Home, Grafton, is in charge of local arrangements.
