David E. Hayes, 53, of Webster City, died suddenly Thursday, September 1, 2011 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Washington Lutheran Church in Duncombe. Burial will follow in the Graceland Cemetery in Webster City, with graveside military rites conducted by the American Legion Post #191. A visitation will be held on Monday evening from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center.

David Eugene Hayes, son of Roger and Teresa Newton Hayes, was born January 6, 1958 in Fort Dodge. He received his education in the Webster City Community Schools, graduating in 1977. From 1978 to 1982, David served in the U.S. Air Force. Following his honorable discharge from the Air Force, he attended A.I.B. in Des Moines, where he earned his business degree. On December 15, 1984, he married Sonja Heather Anderson at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Webster City. David was employed by Casady Brothers in Webster City for the past 4 years. His former employers included, Broshar Implement in Woolstock, Dean Carden Farms and Northwest Bank.

Survivors include his wife, Sonja Hayes of Webster City; children, Alison and Andrew Hayes, both of Ames; sisters, Roxanne Terry of Yukon, OK; Dee (Jeff) Weir of Stanhope; brother, Roger (Polly) Hayes, also of Stanhope; his parents, Roger and Teresa Hayes of Webster City; brothers-in-law, Larry (Barb) Law of Duncombe; sister-in-law, Patsy (Keith) Brock of Webster City; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Leonard and Joyce Anderson of Webster City. David was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Pam Law; and brother-in-law, Rick Terry.
