Story City, IA --- C. William "Bill" Henry, 95, of Story City passed away Thursday, August 18, 2011 at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Funeral services will be Monday, August 22 at 10:30 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Story City. Burial will be in the Story City Municipal Cemetery. A visitation of family and friends will be Sunday, August 21 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Soderstrum Funeral Home in Story City.
Bill Henry was born December 31, 1915 to William Joseph and Anna Mae (Benedict) Henry in Clarion, Iowa. He married Pauline Hildebrand on August 28, 1941. Bill served in the United States Air Force during WWII, from November of 1942 until February of 1946. He attained the rank of Staff Sergeant with stations including Guam and Saipan. After the war, he was an agent for the Rock Island Railroad for 37 years. Through the years, Bill and Pauline made their home in the towns of Newton, Clarion, and in 2002, Story City. Bill was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Story City.
Bill is survived by his wife, Pauline of Story City; his daughter, Vicki (John) Kruger of Story City; three grandchildren, Kris (Devin) Fuhrman of Gainesville, Florida, Mike (Heather) Kruger of Huxley, Iowa and Kim (Eric) Mueggenberg of Des Moines, Iowa; and four great-grandchildren, McKenna Fuhrman, Kaylin Fuhrman, Braden Kruger and Breanna Kruger with Lily Mueggenberg due in September. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Dorothy E. Henry.
