CLAUDE, Louis Prosper
Louis Prosper Claude, son of John and Sophie Claude, was born July 3, 1861, at Wildrsbach, France, and passed away at his home in Woolstock on March 11, 1952, at the age of 90 years, eight months and eight days.
He came to America in 1874 with his father and mother, three brothers to Somonauk, Illinois, from there they moved to Serena, Illinois, for three years. Then came to Wright county and lived here ever since.
He was married to Sophie Mourlam on March 8. 1885. To this union were born 11 children. Mrs. Claude died November 17, 1919. On April 20, 1921, he was married to Miss Nettie Bedient. They made their home in Woolstock, Iowa.
He is survived by his wife and six children. Joseph Emile, Louise (Mrs. Philip Grandgeorge) Henry, Nellie (Mrs. David Loux) and Lena; also 14 grandchildren. 25 great-grandchildren besides many nieces and nephews. Three boys and two girls preceded him in death.
Mr. Claude was one of the few remaining pioneers. He always liked to tell of his early days in Wright county. When the family came to America it took one month to cross the Atlantic. He made two more visit trips to France, which were more pleasant and only took six days on the ocean.
