Deloris Wakefield, 78, passed away Sunday, July 10, 2011, at the Franklin United Methodist Community. Deloris was born July 24, 1932, in Coulter, Iowa, to Everett and Tilly (Reinen) Beisner. She graduated from Dows (Iowa) High School and took nurse’s training in Des Moines, Iowa. She was married to Donald Wakefield in 1953. Deloris was a nurse at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin. She graduated from Franklin College and went on to earn a master’s degree from Indiana University. She worked for the Indiana State Board of Health and later worked in administration at Rush Memorial Hospital in Rushville.

She married William Reece in 1982. They resided in Georgetown, S.C., where she worked as director of nursing at Georgetown Hospital. She owned and operated a home health care and adult day care business in Georgetown. After retirement, she resided at Rocky Fork Lake near Rockville, Ind.

Survivors include three children, Steven (Brenda) Wakefield of Franklin, Susan Wakefield (Dan Wheeler) of Indianapolis and David (Chong) Wakefield of Killeen, Texas; a brother, Robert Beisner of Des Moines, Iowa; a sister Rita Einspahr of Overland Park, Kan.; seven grandchildren, Emily, Valerie and Alyson Wakefield, Carly and Evan (Sarah) Wheeler, and Steven and Brian (Corina) Wakefield; and two great-grandchildren, Bryan and Brighton Wakefield.

Services will be conducted at Vernon Lutheran Church in Dows, Iowa. Burial will be at Vernon Lutheran Cemetery in Dows. Memorial contributions may be made to the Indiana Parkinson Foundation.
