Engineer Frank Bullis died at his home in the city Thursday after an illness of many months. The funeral services were held at the home Sunday afternoon and the burial was in Rose Hill cemetery. Mr. Bullis was a very popular engineer among his associates and the trusted employee of the Northwestern railroad. The Eagle joins the many friends of the family in extending sincere sympathy. Out of town folks at the Bullis funeral were Mr. and Mrs. G. J. F. Vogel, Miss Clara Shawl, Mr. and Mrs. M.E. Polhemus, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Olson, W.J. Davidson, Mrs. Hannah Peck and Dr. and Mrs. Temple, all of Burt, Iowa, Harry Poole of Fort Dodge, Mr. and Mrs. Fay Thompson of Fort Dodge and Mr. and Mrs. Karl Nelson of Des Moines. We are glad to print a deserved tribute to the deceased prepared by Dr. Temple of Hurt. It appears elsewhere in this issue.
James Franklin Bullis was born in Belmond, Iowa February 5, 1871. After a lingering illness he passed away in Eagle Grove, Iowa November 27, 1924 at the age of 53 years, 9 months and 22 days. He was united in marriage to Della Thebiay of Eagle Grove on January 21, 1899. One child was born to them, Earl Ernest, who died in 1911. Mr. Bullis was a member of the Masonic lodge of Eagle Grove and of the B. of L.E. He became fireman on the C & N.W. railroad in 1894 and was made an engineer on September 22, 1899. Funeral services were held at the home on North Iowa Avenue, conducted by W.G. Muhleman of the M.E W. church. Interment was made in Rose Hill.
