Karen Sue Kist, the daughter of Waldo and Evelyn (Frakes) Widmann, was born July 9, 1941, in Hamilton County, Iowa. She was raised and educated in the area of her birth, graduating from Webster City High School. On May 28, 1966, Karen was united in marriage with Robert Kist at Webster City. The couple made their home and raised their family in Webster City and Eagle Grove. Karen worked for Lewright Meats for 20 years, retiring in 2003. Karen was a member of Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Karen passed away on Friday, August 5, 2011, at the age of 70 years. She was preceded in death by her grandparent; parents and great-grandchild. Survivors include her husband, Robert of Eagle Grove; three children: Teresa Choate of Remsen, Terry Kist and wife Lisa of Eagle Grove and Jill Bernmeier of West Des Moines; seven grandchildren: Brad Mrla, Josh Mrla, Brittany Bernsmeier, Brody Almond, Kylee Almond, Samantha Jo Kist and Cooper Kist; three great-grandchildren: Macey Parrott, Landon and Brylee Mrla; two sisters, Shirley Pruismann and husband Darwin of Webster City and Janet Bullock and husband Larry of Webster City and three brothers, Roger Widmann of Iowa Falls, Jerry Widmann and wife Bobbie of Flasher, ND and Randy Widmann and wife Karen of Vancouver, WA.
Funeral services will be held Monday, August 8, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove with Pastor Jason Cooper officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove.
Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
