Cynthia "Cyndie" Lois Graves, 52, a teacher, of Bend, Ore., passed away July 14, 2011. She was born Aug. 19, 1959, in Belmond, Iowa, and was a seven-year resident of Nevada. She moved with her family to Mesa, Ariz. from Ocheyedan, Iowa in 1972. She graduated from Mesa Mountain View high school in 1978, where she excelled in academics and sports. She loved her time at Mountain View, "Go Toro's!" Her college education included attending MCC, University of Arizona, where she was very active in the AOPI sorority and was an advisor for the sorority after her graduation. She graduated from ASU with a teaching degree. She worked in the family business and taught in a private school in Las Vegas. Cyndie enjoyed belonging to the GFWC (national women's organization) and was voted president of the GFWC Junior Mesquite Club, in Las Vegas. She held numerous titles in both clubs. Cyndie loved to watch football, the Arizona Cardinals being her favorite. Puzzles, were her weakness, owning more than 100, she always had one or two started. She loved to be with her nieces and nephews and was always ready when they wanted to do something or go somewhere. Cyndie was preceded in death by her brother, John. Cyndie is survived by her grandmother, Myrle Graves; parents, Max and Jean Graves; three sisters, Crystal and Kevin Kyle, Rebecca and John Connelly, and Barbara and Bob Hatch; four nieces; four nephews; three grandnieces; one grandnephew; and her cat, Phoebe. There will be a celebration at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, at Vantage Condos Clubhouse, 15550 S. 5th Ave., Phoenix, AZ. Donations can be made to Partners in Care 2075 Wyatt Court, Bend OR 97701.
