MESERVEY, IA - Thelma Langlitz, 92, of Meservey went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, July 5, 2011. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 8, at the First Reformed Church in Meservey with Rev. Rodney Meester presiding. Interment will be at the Meservey Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:30–7:30 p.m. Thursday at Retz Funeral Home, 201 Ohio St., Meservey. Thelma was born the daughter of John and Epka (Kaduce) Wiemann on Sept. 13, 1918, on the family farm near Meservey. She attended country schools in the Meservey area. On March 20, 1940, Thelma was united in marriage with Ivan Langlitz in the parsonage of the First Reformed Church in Meservey. Ivan and Thelma were involved in farming in the Meservey and Klemme areas until 1968. Thelma was a member of the First Reformed Church in Meservey, the R.C.W. and served as a Sunday School teacher. She enjoyed Senior Citizen activities, her involvement with M.A.P.O. and working at the polls during elections. Thelma will be remembered for her strong faith and love of family. She was active in the lives of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed attending all their activities. Left to cherish her memory are two sons, Randall (Lee) Langlitz, Aurelia, Iowa, and Harlan (Nancy) Langlitz, Meservey; daughter, Glenda (Robert) Von Arb, Alton; sister, Frieda Jurgens; six grandchildren, Grant (Roxanne) Langlitz, Cory (Kathryn) Von Arb, Lisa Langlitz, Jody (John) Owen, Brooke Langlitz and Lincoln Langlitz; and three great-grandchildren, Madeline, Jacob and Samantha Langlitz. Thelma was preceded in death by her parents; husband Ivan in May 2000; sisters, Deana Pals and Jennie Steenhard; and brothers, Henry and Leonard Wiemann. Retz Funeral Home.
