February 5, 1907 --- July 25, 1991

Joseph John Grandgenett was the son of John and Carolyn Reisenberg Grandgenett. At the age of four, Joe moved with his parents to the St. Benedict area. After his schooling at St. Benedict, he farmed with his parents until his marriage. On February 14, 1939 he married Florence Widen at Corwith, Iowa. Following their marriage the couple farmed west of Corwith, Iowa for 43 years. Following his retirement he helped out on the farm. In 1982 Joe and Florence moved into their home in Wesley, Iowa. Joe was a past member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed his children, grandchildren and just liked being with people. Joe died on Thursday, July 24, 1981 at the Kossuth County Hospital in Algona, Iowa. He was 84.

He is survived by his wife Florence of Wesley, IA; and the following children: Judy, Mrs. Jon Green, Forest City, IA; Robert and wife Audrey Grandgenett, Britt, IA; Jane, Mrs. Mike Frankl, Irvington, IA; David and wife, Lorrie Grandgenett, Grimes, IA; Mary, Mrs. Bill Cruise, Wesley, IA; and Alice, Mrs. Bob Simons, Carroll, IA; 22 grandchildren; 4 sisters, Kate Weimer, Rockwell, IA; Marie Arndorfer, Algona, IA; Mildred, Mrs. Leonard Henderson, Largo, FL; Irene Widen, Corwith, IA; 4 brothers, Jack Grandgenett, Algona, IA; Henry Grandgenett, Bancroft, IA; Albert Grandgenett, Sarasota, FL; and Edward Grandgenett, El Paso, TX. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Tony and one sister, Alma Stoffel.
