Vera Myrtle Claude, the daughter of Charles and Ida (Hilpipre) Mourlam, was born February 26, 1918, in Wall Lake Township, Wright County, Iowa. She was raised and educated in the area of her birth. On December 20, 1937, Vera was united in marriage with Harold W. Claude, in Webster City, Iowa. He preceded her in death on January 30, 1998. Vera was a resident of Woolstock for around 30 years before moving to Eagle Grove upon her husband’s retirement. She has lived in Eagle Grove for the past 20 years. Vera passed away on Friday, July 8, 2011, at Rotary Ann Nursing Home in Eagle Grove at the age of 93 years. She was also preceded in death by her parents; sisters: Ada Wilcox, Lela Wilson and Marie Anderson and a brother, George “Bud” Mourlam. Survivors include her son Jerry L. Claude and wife Mary K. of Topeka, KS; two grandchildren, Dorinda L. Hamilton of Chandler, AZ and David W. Claude of Loveland, CO; five great-grandchildren and a brother, Clifford Mourlam of Clear Lake. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 13, 2011, 1:30 p.m. at the Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove, with Pastor Jim Gochenouer officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Foust Funeral Home. Burial will be in French Cemetery, Woolstock. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
