Wilma Alice Holmes of Armada Township [Michigan] died Sunday, June 26, 2011 at her home at the age of 85 years. Wilma was born August 3, 1925 in Corwith, Iowa, a daughter of Fred and Helen (nee Hensley) Brower. Wilma was a graduate of Rochester High School. On August 21, 1954, she married Laurence David Holmes in Rochester. Wilma was a member of the West Berlin United Methodist Church, where she served as a Sunday School teacher, the church treasurer and bookkeeper. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society and the Daughters of the American Revolution. Surviving are her son, Laurence D. (Michele) Holmes Jr. of Clinton Township; grandchildren, Ashley Holmes and Robert Holmes, both of Clinton Township; brother, William (Flora) Brower of Georgia; and several nieces and nephews. Wilma was predeceased by her husband, Laurence on July 16, 2003; parents; and a brother, Robert Brower. A funeral service will take place at 1 p.m. on Thursday, June 30, 2011 at West Berlin United Methodist Church, 905 Holmes Road, Allenton with the Rev. Dianna Rees officiating. Burial will follow in West Berlin Cemetery, Berlin Township. Visitation will be at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. to the 1 p.m. service. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes would be appreciated for family wishes.

On Aug. 21, 1954, she married Laurence David Holmes in Rochester. Mrs. Holmes graduated from Rochester High School. She was a member of the West Berlin United Methodist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher, the church treasurer and bookkeeper. She is survived b a son, Laurence D. (Michele) Holmes Jr. of Clinton Township; a brother, William (Flora) Brower of Georgia; and two grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Laurence, on July 16, 2003; her parents, Fred and Helen Brower; and a brother, Robert Brower. Visitation will be 10 a.m. - 1 p.m., Thursday, June 30, followed by a 1 p.m. service, at West Berlin United Methodist Church in Allenton. The Rev. Dianna Rees will officiate. Burial will follow in West Berlin Cemetery in Berlin Township. Arrangements were by Tiffany-Young and Hauss Funeral Home in Armada.
