A PIONEER MOTHER PASSED AWAY

Mrs. Mary Eberhardt Was a Much Loved Citizen of Our Community

Mary A. Sergeant was born in the state of New York, Nov. 24, 1842. In early childhood, she moved with her parents, to Rice Lake, Wis., where she grew to womanhood. She was married to John Eberhardt at Harvard, Ill., Sept. 2, 1867. They went to Wright Co., Iowa to make their home. A few years later they came to Kansas and homesteaded on what is now the Bivin farm, 7 1/2 miles northeast of Glasco. Later they moved to the farm where they reared their family of five sons and four daughters and where she made her home till the time of her death. Two daughters and her husband preceded her in death. The end of her earthly life came June 9, 1922. Her life was a very busy, useful one, spent in the service of others. Her many friends found her a great means of comfort and cheers in time of trouble. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Crowe of Chanute, Kansas at the Advent church in Glasco, Kansas and interment made in the Glasco cemetery.
