February 11, 1915 --- June 22, 2011

Lillian Locke, 96, of Iowa Falls, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, June 22, 2011, at Scenic manor, Iowa Falls. Funeral services for Lillian Locke will be 11:00 am Friday, June 24, 2011, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, 313 Lee Lane, Iowa Falls, Iowa, with Pastor Paul Beisel officiating. A time of visitation will be from one hour prior to services at the church on Friday. Burial will be at the Alden Township Cemetery, Alden, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to the Immanuel Lutheran Church. The Linn's Funeral Homes Iowa Falls Chapel has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Lillian was born February 11, 1915 at Buckeye, Iowa to Ferdinand and Augusta [Lange] Klein. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Alden. She was reared and educated in the vicinity of Alden, graduating from the Alden High School in 1933. She attended St. Louis University, completing a course in communications in 1943. She taught communications at many Army Posts until they were closed and was employed as a Claim Examiner at the Veterans Administration in Kansas City, Mo. On June 18th 1949, she was joined in marriage to Marvin W. Locke at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Alden. In 1956 she and her husband Marvin purchased a Jewelry store in Eagle Grove, Iowa. In February of 1973 their store was destroyed by a gas explosion two stores away. In 1984 she accepted a position with Iowa Jewelers and Watchmakers Association as Executive Director. She worked for them 13 years before retiring in 1997. In April 1989 she and Marvin moved to Iowa Falls and became members of Immanuel Lutheran Church, where she served as President and Secretary for the Joy Circle and taught religious classes, Sunday School and Summer Religious School. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the VFW Auxiliary in Eagle Grove.

Her husband Marvin passed away in May 2001 and in 2004 she became a resident of Ashbrook and later Scenic Manor. In February 2011 she celebrated her 96th birthday.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Marvin, sisters Anna Kastendick, Elsa Klein, Irene Richards, and Esteher Pfeffer; brothers Fred, Paul Frank, Walter, Robert, Herman, and Irwin (Bud) Klein. She is survived by her sisters: Doris Rieks and Edna Sanders, sister-in-law Mavis Klein, and brother-in-law Maynard Rieks.
