Corwith, Sept. 27: Bertha Helena Moldenhauer (nee Kirchgatter) was born February 23, 1863, in Germany. Early in infancy she was confirmed in the Lutheran faith. With her parents she came to America at the age of eight. They settled on a farm in Magor township, Hancock county, Iowa, and it was in the public schools she received her education. Bertha Kirchgatter and Ernest Moldenhauer were united in marriage October 15, 1882. To this union were born four children --three sons and a daughter. All children, save Ernest, survive. In 1908, Mr. and Mrs. Moldenhauer moved near Algona. Mr. Moldenhauer died in 1930, but Mrs. Moldenhauer continued to live in Algona until August 1934, when she came to make her home with her son William in Corwith. She died Monday, September 21 at the age of 86 years, 6 months, 27 days.
There remain to mourn her the children, Mrs. Henry Cramer of Henning, Minnesota; Robert and William Moldenhauer of Corwith; seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, two brothers, August Kirchgatter of Nora Springs and Fred Kirchgatter of Corwith.
Funeral services were held from the home and at St. John's Lutheran church in Corwith Friday afternoon, September 23, 1949 with the Rev. Paul C. Lutz officiating. Interment was in the Magor township cemetery.
