Funeral Services Held February 26 For Carlyle Egesdal
Funeral services were held Saturday, February 26, for Carlyle Egesdal, 53, who passed away Wednesday, February 23 at his home. Services were held at 1:30 p.m. at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Buffalo Center with Pastor Joel Njus officiating. Miss Sandra Van Hove was the organist at the service and Mr. and Mrs. Loran Larson sang. The pallbearers were George Steen, Frank Fisher, Ervin Beekman, Amel Limberg, Carl Breckunitch and Lindy Quame. Winter Funeral Service was in charge and interment was in Olena Mound cemetery.
Carlyle Bernard Egesdal was born on October 15, 1912, at Eagle Grove, Iowa, to Mr. and Mrs. Lars Egesdal. He attended rural school at Rake, Iowa. He was married to Mae Barton in August of 1935. To this union were born 3 daughters and 1 son. In October of 1962 Mae passed away. In November of 1963 Carlyle and Leatha Ann Matson were united in marriage. He operated a filling station for 5 years in Titonka and was engaged in farming for 25 years in the Rake, Titonka and Buffalo Center vicinity. He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church congregation of Buffalo Center. He passed away at his home on February 23, 1966, at the age of 53 years, 4 months and 8 days.
He is survived by his wife Leatha Ann; his children: Caro Ruth, Mrs. Loren Aukes; Roberta Lee, Mrs. Thomas Kotten; Carmen Rae, Mrs. Lawrence Winter; Brent Carlyle Egesdal; and Nola Marie Matson, Mrs. Dennis Hassebroek. There are 8 grandchildren surviving. He is also survived by four brothers and sisters: Elizabeth Mrs. Bert Stensland; Earl Egesdal; Carlin Egesdal; and Ruth Mrs. Art Edwards. Other near relatives include aunts, uncles nieces and nephews.
