Interment: Sanborn City CemeteryMartha Haak was born July 1, 1910, in Klemme, IA, the daughter of George and Martha (Studt) Waterman. As a young girl the family moved to the Sanborn area where Martha lived her entire life, moving into Sanborn in 1973, and later to St. John Lutheran Home in December of 2000. On November 23, 1937, she was united in marriage to Albert Haak in Sanborn. Martha worked at various restaurants in the area and also cleaned at the Sanborn Bank. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid, and she enjoyed playing cards and crocheting. Martha Haak died Thursday, May 26, 2005, at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield at the age of 94 years.
Survivors include sister- Neota Fehlman of New Ulm; nieces and nephews- Audrae and Carl Goodballet of Long Prairie, Delores Smith of St. James, De Los and Jan Steinberg of Milwaukee, WI, Jean and Don Johnson of Apple Valley, James Wendt of Ramsey, Bob and Carol Wendt of Bloomington, Curtis and Diane Wendt of Bloomington, Carol and Allen Hoffman of New Ulm, Bob Kuehne of Madison, WI, Jan and Dan Moszyk of Arizona, David Wendt of Rosemount, Kenneth and Gail Wendt of Apache Junction, AZ, Karen Hull of Garland, TX, Barb Steinberg of New Ulm, Georgine and Johnny Hoffmann of Sanborn, Arlene Wog of Sanborn, and Jackie and Curt Schenk of Sanborn; and sister-in-law- Lorraine Haak of Sanborn. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband- Albert in June of 1984; step-mother- Lydia Trapp Waterman; and sisters- Esther Waterman Steinberg, Florence Waterman Kuehne, and Opal Wendt.
