July 2, 1830 -- February 2, 1913
Elizabeth McNutt was born July 2, 1830 in Knox county, Ohio and was married to German Bullis February 10, 1846. To this union were born ten children, five sons and five daughters. With her husband she came to Iowa in 1855 and since 1884 has lived in or near Belmond. She was converted and united with the United Brethren church in 1863 and was a practical Christian woman. It was the devine strength that helped her bury seven of her children, to minister to a blind husband and to patiently endure the preservations of a frontier life. She has been an example of patience as she has lain in her bed for nearly two years uncomplaining and cheerful.
The three remaining children are W. A. Bullis, who is in business in our town, Mrs. Emma Graves of Dows and Mrs. Nellie Luick of near Belmond. Besides these are many grandchildren and dear friends who have lovingly watched the example of sweet patience all these months and years. Especially would we mention Miss Lola, who has given herself to the tender care of the loved one. Mrs. Bullis died February 2, 1913, aged eighty two years and seven months. Her former pastor of the M.E. church, Rev. Van Metre of Clarion, preached the sermon from there words "She hath done what she could."
Card of Thanks:
We wish to express our thanks to the friends and neighbors for their kindness and sympathy during the long illness of our beloved mother.
