Alice Louise Kelling

Alice L. Kelling, 80, of Hayward died Monday, May 16, 2011. Alice Louise Blanquart was born March 12, 1931, in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Veryl (Ricketts) Blanquart. Upon graduation from East High School, Alice worked at Equitable Life Insurance Company. She married Earl Kelling on Nov. 29, 1952. They lived in Des Moines where Earl was a schoolteacher. Together they raised five children. In 1969 they moved the family to Hayward where they lived and retired. Alice was an avid gardener, nature lover and loved reading and writing. Alice is survived by her daughters, Gail (David) Simmons, Carol (Paul) Anderson, and Julie (Tom) McDonald; two sons, David Kelling and Craig (Linda) Kelling; daughter-in-law, Annie Pettengell; brother-in-law, Harold (Beverly) Kelling; sister-in-law, Donna Kelling; ten grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by Earl, who died March 22, 2006.

A family memorial service is being planned this summer at the family site at the Glenwood Cemetery in Goldfield, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Sherman and Ruth Weiss Community Library of Hayward.
