November 18, 1917 -- February 17, 2011

Virginia Irene McCallum Wilson, 93, of 361 Parkland Dr. SE, and widow of Lloyd R. Wilson, died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2011, at Green Park Senior Living Community in St. Louis, Mo., following health complications experienced while visiting her son last year in St. Louis. A memorial and committal service will be held in the chapel of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 19. Inurnment will be in St. Paul’s United Methodist Church columbarium.

Survivors include a son, Gary of St. Louis; and a sister, Norma Moberg of Port St. Lucie, Fla. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd; sisters, Mildred Stephenson and Phyllis Waldrop; and her parents.

Virginia was born Nov. 18, 1917, in Belmond, Iowa, the daughter of Sanford and Clara Kiplinger McCallum. She grew up and attended school in Waterloo, graduating from Waterloo West High School. Following graduation, Virginia was employed by Rath Packing Co. of Waterloo until her marriage to Lloyd R. Wilson on Aug. 23, 1940, in Waterloo. Cedar Rapids had been her home since she and Lloyd returned following World War II in 1945.
