James Marvin Riddle, 89, of 910 Western St., Anoka, died of a respiratory ailment at his home on Nov. 25, 2010. Jim suffered from asthma and diabetes. He passed away peacefully surrounded by several family members. Jim was born in Kansas City, Kan. in 1921 and was raised in Missouri and then Iowa. He graduated from high school in Boone, Iowa. He served in World War II and was honorably discharged as a Sergeant in 1943. He worked as a truck driver much of his life, but also was a building contractor, owned his own restaurant and bar, and worked for the railroad. He retired in 1986 from Umthum Trucking Company in Eagle Grove, Iowa and retired to a home on Leaf Lake near Henning with his wife Irene. In 1994 they moved to Park Rapids where they lived for the last 16 years. In his retirement, Jim enjoyed playing golf almost every day, became a master pie baker and was forever a person that his friends, family and neighbors could count on for a helping hand.
Jim is survived by his wife Irene; daughters Linda Cramer of Zepherhills, Fla., Nancy Riddle of Big Lake and son, Cody Riddle of Taos, N.M.; sister, Vivian Christensen of Ogden, Iowa; grandchildren, Kelly Lorenzen, Rick Rodgers, Ashley Riddle and Taj Riddle; five great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. Jim is preceded in death by his mother; father; brothers, Clay and Ewing; and sister, Doris Stienfeldt.
He will be buried on May 20 at Linwood Park Cemetery in Boone, Iowa. Condolences may be sent to the family at 16710 204th Circle, Big Lake, MN 55309.
