Raymond Franklin Parr, 88, Wellsville, Kansas died April 28, 2011, at his home. Raymond was born on March 13, 1923, in Kanawha, Iowa, to William and Lila Wicks Parr. He grew up in Missouri and moved to Minnesota his junior year and graduated from Elkton High School. On Dec. 29, 1942, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served until Jan. 3, 1946, when he received his honorable discharge. On Aug. 14, 1948, he was united in marriage to Beverly Pritchard in Lawrence. To this union four children were born. They lived in Kansas City, Kan., from 1950 to 1959, moved to Paola and lived there from 1959 to 1975, then moved to Wellsville. He was employed with General Motors and worked as a painter for 30 years before retiring in 1979. He enjoyed fishing, along with taking the kids and grandkids fishing and visiting with friends and neighbors.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, David, LeRoy and Eugene. Survivors include his wife, Beverly of the home; four children, Terry Parr of Wichita, David Parr of Foley Ala., Rayma Kaub of Wellsville and Kelly Parr of Paola; one brother, Billy Parr; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Services were Monday, followed by burial in the Oak Lawn Cemetery in Olathe. Arrangements were by Penwell-Gabel Paola Chapel, 305 N. Pearl St., Paola, KS 66071. Memorials may be made to the Olathe Hospice.
