Lorraine Vera Hanus, the daughter of Harold and Vera L. (Davenport) Kepler, was born March 14, 1933, in Webster City, Iowa. She was raised and educated in the area of her birth. On February 27, 1948, Lorraine was united in marriage with Emil A. “JR” Hanus, in La Crosse, Wisconsin. The couple moved to Eagle Grove in 1953. After moving to Eagle Grove, Lorraine cleaned for others, and was employed by Wilson’s Packing, Fareway and Krysallis. Lorraine loved to dance, watch old movies and listen to country western music.

Lorraine passed away on Saturday, April 30, 2011, at Careage of Clarion, at the age of 78 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, “JR” on January 14, 1989; sister, Marie Hanus; brother, Harold Jr., “Sonny” Kepler and 2 great-granddaughters, Amanda Jo and Adaya Jean Lalor. Survivors include her four children: Janice Lalor and husband Gary, Nancy Hill, Billy Hanus and wife Julie all of Eagle Grove and Patsy Stepp and husband Tony Lindstrom of Webster City; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Charlotte Johnson and Phyliss Coleman and husband Joe of Webster City; brother, Roger Kepler and wife Rose of Webster City and numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held Tuesday, May 3, 2011, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. Private family services will be held at a later date. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
