Mildred D.(Lemke) McLaughlin, the daughter of Henry F. and Daisy C. (Greiman) Lemke, was born August 25, 1914, in Hancock County, Iowa. She grew up in the Klemme area, and graduated from Klemme High School. Mildred was united in marriage to Vernon V. McLaughlin Sr. of Belmond on January 2, 1936. They farmed in the rural Belmond area until they retired. Mildred lived at home on the farm until being hospitalized on December 10, 1988. Mildred taught CCD for over 40 years, was a member of the Rosary Society, CDA, ACCW, Progress Club, Neighborhood Club, St. Elizabeth Study Club, director of Equal Opportunities in Clarion, Ia; and member of the Wright County Election Board. She leaves her beloved family who forever will cherish her memory in their hearts; husband Vernie; 3 sons, Vernon Jr., of Belmond, Iowa, Richard of Adrian, Michigan, and Paul of Belmond, Iowa; one daughter, Barbara of Belmond, Iowa; 9 grandchildren, Ronald, Jackie, Scott, Dan, Mindy, Leslie, Shane, Shawna, and Krystal; 2 brothers, Marvin Lemke of Des Moines, Iowa, and Donald Lemke of Klemme, Iowa; 1 sister, Marjorie (Lemke) Hefte of Britt, Iowa. She is preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Daisy Lemke; 2 great-grandchildren, Joshua and Antony McLaughlin; 1 brother Leon Lemke. ... Burial in Saint Francis Cemetery, Belmond, Iowa.
