DOWS, IA — Linda A. Flores, 64, of Dows died Monday, April 18, 2011, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 23, at the Abundant Life Chapel, 202 Fairview in Dows. Pastor Bruce Klapp will officiate. Linda’s body will be interred at the Mt. Hope Cemetery near Dows at a later date. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday, April 22, at the Abundant Life Chapel and continue one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Dugger Funeral Home, 100 North Lee St., Dows, is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be given in Linda Flores’ name to the family.
Linda Ann, the daughter of Lloyd and Alma Enger Riedasch, was born Oct. 9, 1946, in Kansas City, Mo. At an early age, Linda moved with her family from Lee Summit, Mo., to Dows. It was in Dows that Linda grew up and attended school. She graduated from Dows High School in 1964. After high school, Linda moved to Des Moines and worked for Kresge Department Store. Later she moved to the North Iowa area where she lived in Mason City and eventually settled in Dows in 1972. While working at the Ellsworth Turkey Plant, Linda started dating Manuel Flores. The couple built a life together, getting married March 19, 1982. Manuel and Linda made their home in Dows, where they were blessed with three children, Antonio, Melinda and Shelene. Linda worked as a teacher’s aid at the Dows School. She began there in the 1980s and was currently employed at the school at the time of her death. Linda is remembered as an Elvis fan. She enjoyed disc golf and was an Iowa State Cyclone Fan. Linda also loved the time she spent with her children and grandchildren. Linda was a board member at the Dows Library and belonged to the Abundant Life Chapel in Dows.
Linda is survived by her children, Antonio and wife, Jennifer, of West Des Moines, Melinda of Dows, Shelene and fiancé, Scott Dodson, of Dows; four grandchildren, Carizma, Anaztazia, Jaycub and Lilly and numerous other friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Manuel, in 2001 and a brother, Earl. Dugger Funeral Homes, 100 North Lee St., Dows, IA.
