Dale Harlan Hamer, 53, of Murray died April 2, 2011, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services were 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 5, at Kale Funeral Home, 301 S. Main St., Osceola. Interment was 3 p.m. Tuesday at Eagle Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to his family for a fitting tribute to be decided at a later date.

May 6, 1957 -- April 2, 2011

Dale Harlan Hamer, son of Thomas Dale Hamer and Elaine Eileen (Odland) Hamer was born on May 6, 1957 in Ft. Dodge, Iowa. He passed from this life on April 2, 2011 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines at the age of 53 years. Dale grew up in Eagle Grove, Iowa. He graduated with the Eagle Grove High School class of 1975. He entered the U.S. Navy and served until a non-service connected injury forced his Honorable Discharge. He entered Iowa Central Community College in Webster City, Iowa and later attended Iowa Methodist School of Nursing and graduated as a registered nurse. Dale was united in marriage to Cindy Lee Siefkas on June 18, 1983 in Murray, Iowa and three children blessed this union, Michelle, Andrew and Eric. Dale and Cindy made their home on a farm near Hopeville and later moved to a farm near Lacelle. Dale worked as an RN for 25 years at the Clarke County hospital from 1983 to 2009 and most recently worked for Biomat in Des Moines.

Dale enjoyed being outdoors, riding 4-wheelers, target shooting, reading, paint balling and collecting rocks of all kinds. He loved his family and was very proud of his children and always attended their sporting events and plays.

Dale was preceded in death by his mother, Elaine Hamer. He leaves to cherish his memory, wife, Cindy; daughter, Michelle Gantz and her husband Dave of Omaha, NE; son, Andrew Hamer, currently attending Central College in Pella; son, Lance Corporal Eric Hamer serving in the United States Marine Corps and stationed at the Naval Air Station in Pensacola, FL; father and step-mother, Thomas and Barb Hamer of Eagle Grove, IA; sister, Glenda Schincke and her husband Merlin of Dakota Dunes, SD; twin brother, Dean Hamer and his wife Jody of Story City, IA; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Larry and Fran Siefkas of Murray; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation:

Family will greet friends from 6:00 to 8:00 Monday evening at Kale Funeral Home in Osceola

Service:

10:00 A.M. - Tuesday - April 5, 2011 at Kale Funeral Home in Osceola, Iowa

Cemetery:

3:00 P.M. - Tuesday - April 5, 2011 at Eagle Grove Cemetery in Eagle Grove, Iowa
