Darlene Lois McAlister, 85, of Overland Park, KS, passed away April 3, 2011. Graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 7, at Johnson County Memorial Gardens, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society , 6700 Antioch Road, Suite 100, Merriam, KS 66204 or Odyssey Hospice, 8735 Rosehill Rd, Suite 200, Lenexa, KS 66215. Darlene was born February 16, 1926, in Eagle Grove, IA, to Fred and Mable Sadler. She was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. She enjoyed her family and was known for her kindness, thoughtfulness and service. In addition to homemaking she served as a hospital volunteer at Shawnee Mission Medical Center. Darlene is preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include husband Nathaniel (Mac) McAlister; sister Dorothy Warwick of Yuma, AZ; son Dennis McAlister of Glasco, KS; daughter Patti Nelson of Phoenix, AZ; six grandchildren and four great- grandchildren.
