Barbara Jo (Thielen) Willard, the daughter of Joseph C. and Myrtle J. (Minor) Thielen, was born December 28, 1950, in Fort Dodge, Iowa. She was raised and educated in Eagle Grove, graduating from Eagle Grove High School in 1969. On June 30, 1973 Barb married Brady Willard at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eagle Grove. The couple later divorced. Barb was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, a long-time member of the Eagle Grove Jaycees, Woolstock Fire Department Auxiliary and bowled in many bowling leagues. She also enjoyed bird watching.

Barb passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2011, at her home in Woolstock at the age of 60 years. She was preceded in death by her father and granddaughter, Amanda Lalor. Barb is survived by her life partner, Brian Anderson of Woolstock; two daughters, Jennifer Carter and husband Chad of Eagle Grove and Jessica Willard and Steve Claude of Woolstock; son, Joseph Willard of Eagle Grove; mother, Myrt Thielen of Eagle Grove; brother, Mark Thielen and wife Deb of Eagle Grove; sister, Mary Wolver and husband Steve of Urbandale; brother, Mike Thielen of Eagle Grove; six grandchildren: Bailey, Damian, Madison and Alec Huffaker and Courtney and Zane Carter; nieces, Sarah, Erin and Rachel; nephews, Dylan and Josh and her extended family, Ethan Anderson and wife Libby, Amanda Anderson and Max Anderson.

Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove, with recitation of the Rosary at 4:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, April 1, 2011, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 10:30 a.m. in Eagle Grove with Father Nils Hernandez celebrating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Eagle Grove. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
