Delbert R. Claude, 31, died at 1:15 p.m. Sunday [October 5, 1958] at the University hospitals in Iowa City, succumbing to injuries suffered Sept. 22 in a gun accident which occurred while he was working on the Treasure Acres farm southwest of Blairsburg. Mr. Claude was struck by the charge from a shot-gun which fell from the tractor he was operating on the farm where he had been employed since early this year. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Presbyterian church east of Kamrar, preceded by a brief service at 1:15 at the Foster funeral home. The Rev. Harold DeVries officiated and burial was in the Presbyterian cemetery.
Delbert Richard Claude, son of Harry and Mable Claude, was born June 27, 1927, on a farm eight miles south of Clarion. He was reared and educated in the schools of Wright and Hamilton counties. He was united in marriage Dec. 20, 1949, to Anna Jansen, and Mr. and Mrs. Claude farmed in the Jewell and Kamrar communities. Since early this year they had farmed two miles southwest of Blairsburg. He is survived by his wife, one son and one daughter: Steven Craig, 7, and Terry Lou, 4; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Claude of Jewell; six sisters, Mrs. Edward Wilmer, Dayton; Mrs. Henry Sandve, Geneva, Iowa, Mrs. Arend Jansen, Webster City, Mrs. George Jacobson, Webster City, Mrs. Dwaine Hegland of Cedar Rapids and Miss Carolyn Claude of Des Moines, and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one sister, Mrs. Viola Madson. Mr. Claude was a member of the Presbyterian church.

Shooting Victim Died at Iowa CityDelbert Claude, 32, who farmed near Blairsburg, died Sunday afternoon at a hospital in Iowa City of injuries suffered two weeks ago in a shotgun accident. Claude was fatally injured when a shotgun he was carrying on a tractor fell off the tractor and discharged. He was hospitalized at Mary Greeley Hospital for a time before being transferred to University Hospitals in Iowa City.
Survivors include his wife, Anna, two small children, Steven and Terry Lou; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Claude of Jewell; six sisters, Mrs. Ed Wilmer of Pilot Mound, Mrs. Henry Sandve of Geneva, Mrs. Aron Jensen of Kamrar, Mrs. George Jacobson of Webster City, Mrs. Dwane Hegland of Cedar Rapids and Miss Carolyn Claude of Des Moines.
