January 30, 1830 -- November 8, 1922

Mrs. James Richards, living on mile south of Montgomery, died at the home of her son, Thomas Richards on Wednesday, November 8, 1922, aged 92 years, 10 months and 8 days.

Elizabeth Cross was born January 30, 1830 in Devonshire, England. At the age of eighteen she was married to James Richards of Cornwell, England. To them were born seven children, One little girl died in infancy, James being deceased, Charles of Dows, Iowa, William of Dows, Iowa, deceased, Mrs. Emma Crabtree of Nevada, Missouri, Mrs. Elizabeth Talman of Antler, Sask, Canada and Thomas near Montgomery with whom she has always lived since her husband's death. The family came from England to New York state about the year of 1867. Five years after they came to Wright county, Iowa and later to Hardin county, Iowa where her husband died in December 1890. Grandma Richards has always been a kind christian woman and loving mother, May the kind Father above look after her dear spirit forever. Funeral services were conducted at the M. E. Church by Rev. Jiffers at Montgomery. The remains were laid to rest in the Spirit Lake cemetery.
