RITES HELD FOR MR. BUNNELL

Jesse E. Bunnell, 84, of Brooklyn, Iowa died Wednesday, July 28, [1982] following a long illness. Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at the United Presbyterian Church of Brooklyn, with the Revs. Lynn Williams and Daniel Driscoll officiating. Organist was Nina Bartachek, and vocalists were Marilyn Montgomery, Agnew Montgomery and Ruth Roudabush. Pallbearers were Edward Hatcher, Mark Wiley, Edward Holland, Charles Hasley, John Hasley, Richard Hasley, Michael Hasley, Charles Proctor, Jerry Winchell, Paul Hasley, Thomas Hasley and Jessie Hasley. Knights of Pythias rites were conducted by Poweshiek Lodge No. 198, with burial at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Brooklyn.

The son of John and Maria Creps Bunnell, he was born Dec. 2, 1897, at Eagle Grove. He graduated from Brooklyn High School in 1917. He farmed with his father, and later worked as a carpenter. He was married to Louise Ackley on Sept. 12, 1923. The couple farmed in the Brooklyn, Searsboro and Montezuma area and also reconstructed several homes in the Brooklyn area. Mr. Bunnell was a member of the Brooklyn Presbyterian Church, the Knights of Pythias Lodge and the A.R.R.P., which he served as vice president.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Arlene Hasley of Brooklyn and Irma Arnaman of Grinnell; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents; twin daughters, Edna Mae and Ella Hasley; and a sister, Bertie Shultz.
