Eagle Grove – Eleanor R. Jacobson

Eleanor Rebekah Jacobson the daughter of Ole and Bertha Marie (Ogland) Carlson, was born April 22, 1918, in Kanawha, Iowa. She was raised and educated in the area of her birth. On February 14, 1942, Eleanor was united in marriage with Bennie C. Jacobson in Clarion, Iowa. The couple made their home in Eagle Grove where Eleanor was a member of Samuel Lutheran Church, Priscilla Circle, American Legion Auxiliary and the Senior Citizens Center.

Eleanor passed away on Saturday, March 5, 2011, at Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge, at the age of 92 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bennie on June 26, 1972; daughter, Ruby Ann Nelson; son-in-law, Vance Nelson; sisters, Hilma Thompson and her husband Tilbert, Myra Birkland and husband Marion and Shirley Olson and brothers, Tilman Carlson and wife Nellie, Gordon, Robert and Birdsall Carlson.

Survivors include her granddaughters, Angela Wesselink and husband Kent of Eagle Grove and Michelle Sunner and husband Chad of Cedar Rapids; five great-grandchildren: Jacob, Benjamin and Cael Wesselink and Lucas and Sophia Sunner; three sisters: Clarice Thompson and Burdette of Clarion and Ruby McCormick of Sioux Falls, SD; sisters-in-law: Meri Carlson and Clarice Carlson of Britt, Dorothy Buss of Mason City, Beverly Jacobson and Mabel Odland of Eagle Grove and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 8, 2011, 2:00 p.m. at Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove with Pastor Richard Taylor officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Eagle Grove. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
