Roger Dean Gobeli, 73, of Ault, Colo., died Feb 13, 2011, at North Colorado Medical Center. Roger was born Dec. 4, 1937, in Meservey, Iowa to Robert F. and Nellie (Cramer) Gobeli. He married Elaine Wahl on Aug 12, 1955, in Las Vegas, N.M. They divorced in 1972. He was an independent truck driver for the majority of his life. He received an award from Sammon’s Trucking for 3,000,000 miles without an accident. He transported the submarine to California that was responsible for finding the Titanic. Anytime Sammon’s had an extremely valuable shipment, Roger was called to transport it. He owned Greeley Harley Davidson in the 1960s. Roger enjoyed trips to Sturgis, racing Harley motorcycles, motorcross racing, spending time with family and friends and going to stock car races in Erie, Colo. He was a good-hearted, ornery guy with a contagious laugh. He taught his children and extended family the value of forgiving, loving and enjoying one another. He knew what mattered and what didn’t.

Roger is survived by his daughter, Cheryl L. James of Greeley; grandson, Roger James; and numerous nieces. He is preceded in death by his son, Eugene Allen Gobeli; parents; sisters, Beverly Cumley, Betty Zavala; and brother, Fritz Gobeli.

The family will have a memorial service at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb 21, 2011 at Celebration Pointe Nazarene Church, 4100 20th St., in Greeley. Memorial contributions may be made to Roger’s Family for his grandson’s education in care of Adamson Funeral and Cremation Services 2000 47th Ave., Greeley, CO 80634.
