August 18, 1886 -- July 27, 1951

Raymond Richard Perry was born in Cerro Gordo county, August 18, 1886 son of Lyman A. and Sarah Ketchum Perry. When he was very small, parents moved to a farm near Galt, Iowa, where he spent his boyhood. He left home at an early age to work for the Chicago Great Western railroad, where he worked almost continuously until a few months before his death. Mr. Perry came to Oelwein in 1908 and has made his home here since that time. June 24, 1913 he was united in marriage with Kathryn Deyo, to this union three children were born; Marion (Mrs. T. C.) Anderson of Delta, Ia; Royal R. of Oelwein and Ralph A. of Iowa City. Mrs. Perry died Sept. 7, 1933. In September 1941 he was married to Mrs. Esther Raftis. Mr. Perry had been in poor health since January 1951 and died at Mercy Hospital, Oelwein Friday July 27, 1951 at the age of 64 years, 11 months and 9 days. He was also preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and two brothers. He is survived by his widow, his daughter and sons; three grandchildren and brother, Shirley Perry of Clarion and also other relatives.

Funeral services were held Sunday, July 29, at Brant chapel with the Rev. L. W. Hauter. The following serving as casket bearers, Bert Baker, Alfred Anderson, Max Crain, W. Elliott, Jerry Bird and Anton Nelson. Burial was made in Woodlawn.
