Des Moines, IA -- Mary Lois Bell, 90, died Saturday, October 9, 2010 at Calvin Community after succumbing to cancer. Mary Lois was born on October 6, 1920 in Renwick, Iowa. She was the second of Carl and Naomi Flemming's three children. Raised on a farm near Renwick, she was valedictorian of her High School class. Prior to graduating from Iowa State University, she met and married her husband of 43 years, Everette Bell, who predeceased her.

Mary Lois and her husband lived in Brooklyn, Iowa, before moving to Des Moines. She taught Home Economics at Warren Harding Junior High School in Des Moines for 20 years. She was a Member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. She is survived by her sons, Marvin and Steven; 8 grandchildren.

Memorial services will be 1 p.m., Saturday, October 16, 2010 in the Atrium of Calvin Community with Pastor Ken Arentson officiating. Inurnment will be at Merle Hay Columbarium. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Good Samaritan Fund at Calvin Community.
