RUTLAND, IA - Ardis J. Dahl, 76, of Rutland, passed away February 14, 2011 at the Rolfe Care Center. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Humboldt. Interment will be in Indian Mound Cemetery, Humboldt. Visitation will be from 12 to 1 p.m. Friday at the church. Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home of Humboldt is in charge of arrangements.
Ardis is survived by her mother, Irene Wilcox of Humboldt; children, Jerry (Paula) Dahl of Rutland, Judy (Tom) Nilles of Gilmore City, Kelly (Brenda) Dahl of Kearney, NE, and Scott (Deb) Dahl of Dakota City; stepchildren, Susan (Colin) Kilts of Fairmont, MN, Nancy Johansen of Bradgate, John Dahl of Livermore, Christy (Bill) Briggs of Livermore, Terry (Mary) Dahl of Rutland, and Leisha (Mark) Prime of Spencer; brother, Richard (Patricia) Wilcox of Booneville, AR; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her special friend and roommate, Connie Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband, John O. Dahl; father, Ray Wilcox; brother, Gary Wilcox; and stepdaughter, Cheryl Hall.
Ardis Joanne Wilcox, the daughter of Ray and Irene (Zielske) Wilcox, was born May 14, 1934 on a farm near Vincent. She received her education and graduated from Humboldt High School. She was united in marriage to John O. Dahl on September 25, 1954 at the Little Brown Church at Nashua. The couple made their home in and around Humboldt until moving to Rutland in 1963. Mr. Dahl passed away in October of 1978. Ardis continued to maintain her home until becoming a resident of the Rolfe Care Center in May of 2007.
Ardis was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church. Ardis worked as a cook in area restaurants including Gordy's, The Fireside, the Humboldt Country Club, and the Cedar Room for many years. She served as the church organist at Trinity Lutheran Church near Rutland and drove the Head Start school bus.
