Melvin "Butch" Johnson Jr., 61, of Hampton, Iowa, passed away February 11, 2011, at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa in Mason City, Iowa. He was born December 8, 1949, in Hampton, Iowa, to Melvin and Jackie (Buchanan) Johnson Sr. Melvin attended school in Sheffield. He married Cindy Bradley on May 1, 1992, at the Abundant Life Chapel in Dows, Iowa. Melvin worked at the Dows Junction doing maintenance and worked for various auto body shops. He enjoyed restoring old cars and trucks and also enjoyed horticulture and gardening.

Melvin is survived by his wife Cindy Johnson of Hampton, step daughter Donna (Marv) Tripp of Burt, step son Ron Nohrenberg & significant other Becky Menke of Webster City, step son Jason (Jo) Nohrenberg of Popejoy, step son Chad (Melissa) Nohrenberg of Webster City, sister Sharon Gardner of Dows, sister Barb Moore of Grand Island, Nebraska, sister Sandy (Mark) Anderson of Hampton, seven step grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, brother and a brother-in-law. Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery in Popejoy, Iowa.
