Alvin E. Koester, 95, of Fort Dodge and formerly of Vincent, died Monday, January 24, 2011 at Careage of Fort Dodge. A memorial Mass will be held at a later date at Corpus Christi Church. Burial will be in the Colfax Township Cemetery, Vincent. Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home is serving the family.

Alvin is survived by his son, Robert of Moorland; daughter, Diane Wingerson of Mesa, AZ; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hans and Caroline (Rossman) Koester; his wife, Florence; brothers and sisters, Fred, Alfred, Bruno, Clara, Annie, Martha, Hulda, and Leona.

Alvin E. Koester was born October 31, 1915 on the family farm near Vincent. He attended the country school in the Vincent area. Following his education Alvin began farming the family farm. On May 1, 1943 he was united in marriage to Florence Butler and they established their home on the family farm near Vincent. Alvin was employed at Felco, later known as Land O'Lakes, for over 20 years. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
