MASON CITY - Bernice C. Gregson, 82, of 328 13th St. S.E., died Sunday (Aug. 15, 1999) at the Good Shepherd Care Center. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Major Erickson Funeral Home & Crematory, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with the Rev. Bill Poland, of Wesley United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date. Her body will be cremated after the funeral. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Major Erickson Funeral Home and until time of services on Thursday. Memorials may be given to the Bernice C. Gregson Memorial Fund.
Bernice C. Gregson was born Feb. 16, 1917, in Ocheyedan, Iowa, to Jake and Anna W. (Brehmer) Schubert. She attended and graduated from Corwith High School. On May 20, 1934, Bernice was united in marriage with Kenneth W. Gregson in Garner, Iowa. In 1943, they moved to Mason City where they have lived ever since. She worked for the Mason City Public School System for 19 years, retiring in 1979. Bernice has been a member of Wesley United Methodist Church since 1945 and the Lydia Church Circle, as well as the 500 Club. She enjoyed doing needlework and traveling to visit her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed trout fishing on Lake Michigan with her niece's family.
Her family includes her husband, Ken Gregson, of Mason City; three sons, Richard K. Gregson and wife, Shirley, of Phoenix, Dr. Michael J. Gregson and his wife, Georgiana, of Pocatello, Idaho, and Larry G. Gregson, of Mason City; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Marcella Wignall and her husband, Warren, of Marshalltown; and one sister-in-law, Myrna Gregson, of Algona. She was preceded in death by her parents; and one sister, Lucille Shipman. Major Erickson Funeral Home & Crematory.
