HUMBOLDT, IA - Carl F. Lippolt, 89, of Humboldt, passed away January 24, 2011 at the Humboldt Care Center North. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Faith United Methodist Church in Humboldt with the Rev. Walden Paige officiating. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Humboldt with full military rites by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4250 and American Legion Post 119. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt with Masonic Rites at 7:00 p.m.

Carl is survived by his wife, Charlene of Humboldt; sons, Dennis Lippolt and Doug Lippolt of Hardy; step-children, Mike Oberman of Humboldt, Patty Parker of Ames, and Charlie Oberman of Bloomington, MN; and grandchildren, Josh, Courtney, Mindy, Missy, and Devon. He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, her husband, and great-grandchild, Andrea and Mike Reed and Isabel; 2 brothers; and 4 sisters.

Carl Frederick Lippolt, the son of Gottlieb and Mary (Jensen) Lippolt, was born August 22, 1921 on the family farm in Dixon County, Nebraska. He was raised on the farm and attended country school. At the age of 12, following the death of his father, Carl took over the family grain and livestock operations. He enlisting into the United States Army during World War II and served in the Pacific Theater with the 2nd Calvary. Following his honorable discharge, Carl settled in Renwick, Iowa where he worked for area farmers and in the construction business. He then went to work for the elevator where he eventually became Manager. In 1950 he was married to Verna and that marriage was later dissolved. In 1974, he was united in marriage to Charlene Oberman. He retired from the elevator to establish Lippolt Commodities and worked as a broker in Humboldt and Fort Dodge until his retirement at the age of 78. Carl was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church. He enjoyed card playing and visiting with friends. Memorials may be made to the discretion of the family.
