MUSCATINE, Iowa –Elizabeth ‘Miki’ Fisher, 88, of Muscatine, died on Sunday, January 23, 2011, at Carrington Place. Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 27, 2011, at the First Presbyterian Church. Reverend David Ivie will officiate the service. A time of food and fellowship will follow the service in the parish hall. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, January 26, 2011, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church or to the donor’s choice of charity.
'Miki’ was born on August 20, 1922, in Danville, Iowa, the daughter of Reverend Harry and Inza Fraley Throckmorton. She married Garland ‘Kip’ Fisher on March 31, 1946, in Eagle Grove, Iowa. She attended Shurtleff College in Alton, Illinois, for two years following high school. She had worked as an operator for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company and worked at Central State Bank. She was very active with the First Presbyterian Church where she had served as a deacon and also participated in several church circles. She also belonged to P.E.O., Keystone, Craft Club, and several bridge clubs. She enjoyed walking, reading, and playing bridge.
Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Garland ‘Kip’ Fisher of Muscatine; one daughter, Jan A. Cook and husband, John, of Cherokee; one son, Scott R. Fisher and wife, Patricia Cone-Fisher of Iowa City; four grandchildren, Matthew Fisher, Michael Fisher, Erin Webster and husband, Nick, and Jason Cook; and one great-granddaughter, Shay Elizabeth Webster. She was preceded in death by her parents.
